COMPLETED PROJECTS AND FUTURE PLANS

We are very pleased that we have recently completed the second phase of the Dragon Project.   This project was initiated by the Parochial Church Council to plan changes to the interior of the church to increase flexibility and enable greater community use of St George’s.

In the years since the major repair work that our successful Restoration Appeal enabled us to carry out, we have:

  • Cleared the pews from the front of the Nave to make the most marvellous flexible space to accommodate varied forms of worship as well as providing a stage for musical groups to present concerts and recitals.  This has proved extremely popular and we see infinite possibilities for its use.
  • Created a splendid new social space in the converted North aisle.
  • Restored our much used community room
  • Brought the administrative work of the parish into the body of the church by creating a self contained office
  • Significantly improved our facilities for people with disabilities

To complement these interior works, we have improved the car parking arrangements and have done much to enhance the grounds of the church

One of the next tasks for the Dragon project is to consider updating the kitchen and providing extra toilets to accommodate the increased numbers using the church building for all sorts of events.
