I would also like to commend three upcoming events to you in particular, which are sure to encourage both some festive cheer and appropriate Advent reflection!

Our Advent Carol Service at 5pm this Sunday (30th November) A relaxed, all-age service including Blessing of the Christmas Tree and solemn Switching-on of the Church Lights.

Cider & Carols on Friday 19th December, 7pm in church. Bring your friends for informal carol singing around the piano with a warming winter drink. Non-alcoholic options will be available.

Finally, Christmas by Candlelight on Saturday 13th December, 7.30pm - a special event from our friends at Obsidian. 50% of proceeds from ticket sales go to church so please come along for what is bound to be a wonderful evening!

Dear friends,

Please find attached The Pewsheet for October 2025.

I hope you'll forgive the slightly early October update, but there are just so many exciting things happening in church at the moment and this is keeping your Vicar busy!

Coming up soon

Sunday 28th September, 10.30am: Sung Eucharist with Bishop Michael

The Bishop of Birmingham will preside and preach as we celebrate baptisms, admissions to communion, confirmations and the licensing of Lis Fisher as Reader.

We will be celebrating afterwards with wine and soft drinks. We'd love to see you!

Sunday 5th October, 10.30am: Harvest Festival service followed by Bring & Share lunch

We are collecting non-perishable foodstuffs and toiletries for Brushstrokes Foodbank, Sandwell. Please bring these in next week or on 5th October.

We warmly invite you to one of our legendary Bring & Share lunches after the service. If you can, please bring sweet and/or savoury dishes from your own culture.

Looking ahead

All Souls Service, Sunday 2nd November, 5pm

This is an opportunity to pray for the departed including our own loved ones. We have a new Chantry (memorial) Book, given in memory of Caroline Shaw.

If you would like to include names in the book please email them to me by Friday 17th October, along with the date when the person died. These will be written into the book and prayed for every year.

With every prayer and blessing,

Sam
